Our Activities
The Cyber-Defence Campus is an innovation hub that provides a range of activities to promote research, innovation, international scouting, technology monitoring, and security testing & expertise in the field of cyberdefence.
Research
Our research is a long-term investment in securing the required expert knowledge and scientific-technical competencies for the field of cyberdefence. We are committed to the highest international standards and offer a world-class research environment that provides extensive resources to a wide range of researchers and that is an attractive destination for Switzerland’s cyber talents.
Innovation
At the CYD Campus, we identify emerging digital trends early on, help translate the latest scientific findings into practical solutions, and implement them in operational settings. By connecting the federal administration, the armed forces, academia, and industry, we create a dynamic network of expertise that strengthens technological innovation and sovereignty. Through targeted research programs, startup challenges, proof-of-concept projects, and real-world test environments, we help transform new technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence, secure systems, and secure communication networks into concrete capabilities for Switzerland’s security.
International Scouting
We identify new technologies and companies in Switzerland and abroad that meet the requirements of the Federal administration through an international scouting. This activity is primarily aimed at finding emerging companies (startups), but sometimes also established companies that are developing innovative products are considered.
Security Testing and Expertise
Modern infrastructures such as communication systems, building automation, vehicles and digital platforms are now highly interconnected. The ongoing digitalisation in both the civil and military sectors is constantly expanding the attack surface and increasing cyber risks for our society. The CYD Campus investigates security-critical technologies in order to identify risks and opportunities at an early stage and strengthen Switzerland’s cyber resilience
Technology Monitoring
Our mission is to identify, track, and assess technological developments that may impact Switzerland’s cyber security and cyber defence. We support the early detection of trends, risks, dependencies, and potential technological disruptions, thereby providing a robust basis for national security assessments, capability planning, and strategic decision-making. These activities are aligned with the priorities set out in national cyber strategies and those of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS).
Cyber Training
As a reaction to the increasing complexity of cyber security at national level, we have been tasked with the pilot project «Cyber Training @ Cyber-Defence Campus». The goal of the project is to bring together various organisations of national significance as a community and to be able to provide them with a sound cyber training offer.
