Offerings for Students

The CYD Campus forms the link between academia and the Swiss Federal Government in research, development and training for cyber defence. Students can engage with us at various levels through our programs and attractive offerings.

• Internship

  We offer internships for Bachelor, Master and PhD students in Cyber Security, Data Science, Technology Monitoring and Communication. The internships are between 6 and 12 months and can be done at all three CYD Campus locations in Thun, Lausanne or in Zurich. Since 2019, we have hosted more than 100 interns from various Swiss and internationally renowned Universities including, ETH Zurich, EPFL, University of St. Gallen, University of Lausanne, University of Geneva, EURECOM, Ruhr Universität Bochum, TU Kaiserslautern, and others.

• CYD Fellowship

  Our CYD Fellowship program is a competitive talent program (less than ten percent acceptance rate) that promotes excellence in cyberdefence research and innovation in Switzerland. Any student enrolled at a Swiss University may apply here. The program provides talented students with the opportunity to work between 6 months and 4 years in the CYD Campus on the topic of their choice. The program has four types of fellowships:

  • Master thesis (6 months)
  • PhD thesis (4 years)
  • Postdoc (1-2 years)
  • Proof-of-concept (12-18 months)

  The Fellows may conduct their work in the CYD Campus premises at EPF Lausanne, ETH Zurich or in Thun and are provided a living allowance for the entire duration of the fellowship. From 2020-23, 21 fellowships have been awarded to students.

  

• Bachelor and Master Thesis

  We host students to do their Bachelor and  Master thesis under the supervision of a mentor from the CYD Campus. The students conduct their thesis on the premises of the CYD Campus at EPFL, ETHZ and at the headquarters in Thun. While doing their thesis, students get access to a unique research environment with world-class lab infrastructures.
