ICS Hackathon — © VBS/DDPS During the ICS Hackathon, around 30 experts from administration, industry, universities as well as students have come together to gain practical experience in the areas of cyber attacks and defence methods in a realistic ICS test environment. In addition to the classic hackathon, corresponding courses - especially for experts from energy supply companies - will be offered this year as part of the «Cyber Training» project. The «Cyber Training» project was launched in response to the constantly changing requirements and increasing complexity of cyber security at national level.Cyber Startup Challenge 2024: 30 October 2024

Cyber Startup Challenge 2024 — © VBS/DDPS The Cyber Startup Challenge took place for the fifth time in 2024. In May 2024, the Cyber-Defence Campus called for innovative solutions to be developed for the security of artificial intelligence. Startups presented their ideas to a jury of experts from the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (VBS). The startup ‹Patronus AI› was particularly convincing and in 2025 will be given the opportunity to present its solution to the DDPS in a feasibility study under real conditions.Media release: The start-up «Patronus AI» wins over the DDPS in the Cyber Start-up Challenge 2024
Cyber Startup Challenge 2023: 26 October 2023

Cyber Startup Challenge 2023 — © VBS/DDPS The Cyber Startup Challenge took place for the fourth time in 2023. In June 2023, the Cyber-Defence Campus launched its call for innovative solutions in the field of «Security of smartphone applications and their potential threats». Ten start-ups responded to the call and presented their solutions to the jury, which was made up of cyber experts from the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS). The company Ostorlab impressed the jury with its application scanner, which performs security analyses on mobile applications. In 2024, the company will be able to implement its solution in a feasibility study tailored to the army and demonstrate it to the DDPS in a real environmentMedia release: Cyber Start-up Challenge 2023: Start-up Ostorlab convinces the DDPS
Cyber Start-up Challenge 2022: 26 October 2022

Cyber Startup Challenge 2022 — © VBS/DDPS The call for the Cyber Start-up Challenge started for the third time in succession in June 2022. The goal of the Challenge is to explore the start-up technology landscape in a specific subject area, in order to integrate innovative technologies into the armed forces. As part of the Cyber Start-up Challenge 2022, 36 start-ups from various different countries presented their innovative technologies in the area Network detection and security of IoT devices. The start-up ONEKEY was able to convince the jury of cyber experts from the DDPS with its automated security analysis technology. Using the «Software Bill of Materials (SBOM)» and automatically generated «Digital Twins», ONEKEY checks for possible critical security vulnerabilities and compliance violations in the operational software.Cyber Start-up Challenge 2021: 28 September 2021
Start-ups could submit their innovative technology solutions under this year’s motto «Strengthen your Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC)» in the field of cyber threat intelligence with a focus on critical infrastructure protection. The winning Zurich-based company, Decentriq, was selected at the CYD Campus Conference on September 28, 2021.
Cyber Start-up Challenge 2020: 03 February 2020
In August 2020, the Cyber Defence Campus of the DDPS launched the call for the Cyber Start-up Challenge on the topic of novel solutions in the field of cyber threat intelligence. Twenty-two Start-ups responded to the call and presented their solutions to the jury, composed of cyber experts from the Swiss Armed Forces and armasuisse Science and Technology.
