Dr Bernhard Tellenbach to be the new Head of the division Cyberdefence

From 1 November 2025, Dr Bernhard Tellenbach will take over as head of the division Cyberdefence at armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T). In future, he will be responsible for the strategic management of the Cyber-Defence Campus in this role. The Cyber-Defence Campus offers its hearty congratulations to him in his new role and thank Dr Vincent Lenders, the former Head, for his long-standing commitment.

The division Cyberdefence at armasuisse S+T is the central department for research, technological development and situation assessment in the area of cyberdefence at the DDPS. The Cyber-Defence Campus brings together experts from science, industry and authorities to develop innovative solutions for the security of digital infrastructures.

From 1 November 2025, Dr Bernhard Tellenbach will take over management of the division Cyberdefence at armasuisse Science and Technology. In this role, he will also be responsible for the strategic development of the Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus), the link between the DDPS, industry and science in research, development and training for cyberdefence.

Since joining armasuisse S+T in 2022, Dr Tellenbach has led the Cyber Security team and the research programme 3a “Cyberspace”. He has also supervised numerous research projects, CYD fellows, trainees and students and defined substantive priorities in areas such as network traffic analysis, attacks on networks and highly secure mobile platforms.

He was previously employed at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) for over ten years, where as a lecturer, research programme Head and later Head of the research group Information Security, he contributed significantly to the development of the area Information Security. His scientific career began with a thesis at ETH Zurich in the field of network security.

Outside of work, Dr Tellenbach has been active in the Swiss cyber security community for many years. This includes serving as president and co-founder of the Swiss Cyber Storm association, as well as sitting on the SATW's Advisory Board on Cyber Security. Swiss Cyber Storm organises an annual cyber security conference, runs the Swiss Hacking Challenge for young talent, and selects the Swiss team for the European Cyber Security Challenge.

The Cyber-Defence Campus team wishes Bernhard all the best and success in his new role. At the same time, the team would like to thank Vincent for his tremendous commitment over the past 17 years. During this time, he was instrumental in growing the Cyberdefence division and establishing the Cyber-Defence Campus.
